L\u2019Organisation mondiale de la sant\u00e9 (OMS) classe la maladie migraineuse parmi les maladies les plus invalidantes du monde. Mais comment distinguer une migraine des \u00ab simples \u00bb maux de t\u00eate ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Quand quelqu\u2019un se plaint de migraine, beaucoup de gens pensent \u00e0 de forts maux de t\u00eate. Ils n\u2019ont d\u2019ailleurs pas enti\u00e8rement tort. Les c\u00e9phal\u00e9es de tension tout comme la migraine font partie des c\u00e9phal\u00e9es dites \u00ab primaires \u00bb et ne sont pas associ\u00e9es \u00e0 une maladie ou un traumatisme cr\u00e2nien comme les \u00ab c\u00e9phal\u00e9es secondaires \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Parmi les maux de t\u00eate, la migraine occupe pourtant une place particuli\u00e8re. Autrefois souvent \u00e9cart\u00e9e comme affection psychique, la migraine est aujourd\u2019hui reconnue comme une maladie d\u2019origine neurobiologique qui pr\u00e9sente une pr\u00e9disposition g\u00e9n\u00e9tique. Une crise de migraine d\u00e9clenche un dysfonctionnement temporaire des syst\u00e8mes de r\u00e9gulation de la douleur et la personne concern\u00e9e r\u00e9agit de mani\u00e8re hypersensible aux stimuli.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Diff\u00e9rents sympt\u00f4mes<\/strong><br \/>\nPeu importe si l\u2019on souffre de c\u00e9phal\u00e9es de tension ou de migraine, les deux affections sont difficiles \u00e0 supporter. Car quand la t\u00eate bourdonne de douleurs, la capacit\u00e9 de performance est fortement limit\u00e9e. Toutefois, ces deux maladies courantes se distinguent par un certain nombre de caract\u00e9ristiques et de sympt\u00f4mes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les maux de t\u00eate<\/strong> se localisent souvent au niveau de l\u2019occiput, des zones temporales ou du front et sont d\u2019une intensit\u00e9 plus ou moins prononc\u00e9e. La forme la plus courante des maux de t\u00eate est la c\u00e9phal\u00e9e de tension. Les personnes concern\u00e9es se plaignent de douleurs bilat\u00e9rales, sourdes, oppressantes, comme si la t\u00eate \u00e9tait prise dans un \u00e9tau. Les <strong>douleurs migraineuses<\/strong> par contre se manifestent le plus souvent sous forme de crise et de fa\u00e7on unilat\u00e9rale, et elles sont d\u2019une intensit\u00e9 bien plus forte. Les personnes concern\u00e9es d\u00e9crivent une douleur de battement intense, lancinante, pulsatile ou irradiante. Certaines parlent d\u2019un v\u00e9ritable \u00ab orage \u00bb dans leur t\u00eate. Une migraine peut se d\u00e9clencher pour de nombreuses raisons. Ainsi, une crise migraineuse peut \u00eatre provoqu\u00e9e par du bruit fort, de la lumi\u00e8re crue, certains aliments ou la consommation d\u2019alcool, tout comme par la fatigue et le stress, mais aussi par une phase de d\u00e9tente (migraine du week-end) ou un changement du rythme veille-sommeil. Et avant tout, ce sont les fluctuations hormonales (cycle menstruel) qui comptent parmi les facteurs d\u00e9clencheurs importants, comme le d\u00e9montrent certaines recherches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qu\u2019est-ce qui peut soulager la douleur ?<\/strong><br \/>\nLes conditions att\u00e9nuant la douleur indiquent aussi si nous avons affaire \u00e0 une migraine ou \u00e0 une c\u00e9phal\u00e9e de tension. Ainsi, une activit\u00e9 physique mod\u00e9r\u00e9e peut soulager les personnes qui souffrent de c\u00e9phal\u00e9es de tension. Une promenade en plein air peut leur faire du bien. En revanche, l\u2019intensit\u00e9 de la douleur migraineuse sera souvent augment\u00e9e par un effort physique. Les personnes concern\u00e9es se sentent mieux dans une pi\u00e8ce calme et sombre. De plus, \u00e0 la diff\u00e9rence des c\u00e9phal\u00e9es de tension, la migraine est souvent pr\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9e de sympt\u00f4mes secondaires tr\u00e8s vari\u00e9s qui l\u2019annoncent quelques jours avant la crise. Les personnes r\u00e9agissent sensiblement au bruit et \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re ou souffrent de naus\u00e9es, m\u00eame de vomissements. Une fatigue prononc\u00e9e, une augmentation soudaine de l\u2019app\u00e9tit ou un manque de concentration sont autant de signes qui peuvent annoncer une migraine. Environ 15% des personnes concern\u00e9es sont aussi sujettes \u00e0 des auras migraineuses, elles souffrent de sympt\u00f4mes de d\u00e9ficience neurologiques comme par exemple de troubles de la vision, du langage ou de l\u2019\u00e9quilibre. Leur qualit\u00e9 de vie peut \u00eatre fortement entrav\u00e9e.
